An Introduction to Gardening

Saturday Feb 22nd | Cost: Free | 10am – 3pm (1 hour break for lunch)

This class is a basic level introduction for beginners and those wanting to learn more about the wonderful world of gardening.  Sandwiches and ice tea kindly provided by Aaron Driver from Seven Springs, for those who wish to stay at the Nursery for the lunch break.

The class will be scheduled in 2 parts:

Adam Bigelow WorkshopPart 1) 10am to 12pm, Adam Bigelow from Bigelow’s Botanical Excursions will talk about understanding the earth and getting your soil ready for planting.

  • Understanding your soil
    • What makes a good soil and an explanation of the typical soil in our area
    • Soil testing and what the results mean
    • How to amend and prepare your soil for a garden
  • The joys of composting
    • What is composting (and what it isn’t)
    • An easy guide to getting started
    • How to use your compost in your garden

Part 2) 1pm to 3pm, Aaron Driver from Seven Springs Landscape Maintenance will educate attendees on plant selection, plant qualities and some introduction gardening tips.
