Sweet StemsWorkshop: Cut Flowers: From Planting to Arranging

Kristin Landfield joined us for a super fun and interesting talk last year on Designing a Flowering Perennial Garden: Creating a dynamic planting scheme to maintain 4-season interest, provide habitat and attract pollinators.  This year Kristin is returning to share her knowledge on -connection to a sense of place, expression of natural forms, and more.

Adam, of Bigelow’s Botanical Excursions, is a horticulturalist and native plant enthusiast who has a passion for the wildflowers of Southern Appalachia that he loves sharing and teaching with others. Adam will be talking about Native Plants.

Bare Root is an all-weekend festival celebrating farming and food in Macon County.  As we get closer to the event, we will unveil more details about how you can join in and celebrate the farmers and food-makers of our county!

Winding Stair Farm have teamed up with 2 of Atlanta’s most well known chefs, Kevin Rathbun and Gerry Klaskala to host a very special event, with all net proceeds to go to Macon County CareNet.

This exclusive event will be limited to 15 guests.

Bartram NightBartram Week including Bartram Night

9th – 13th September | Nursery all Week + Friday Special Event

Y’all will have heard of the Bartram Trail and William Bartram, a naturalist who lived in the 17th and 18th centuries, journeying through eight of America’s early colonies.  He made drawings and documented much of the native flora and fauna.

The nursery will celebrate many of the native plants this week as well as hosting a native plants sale.

We’re also working with a local hiking group to host a Bartram Trail hike!

Bartram Night: 13th September, Friday night

Come out for an evening stroll among Franklinia blossoms and learn more about naturalist William Bartram’s 1775 explorations of the western North Carolina mountains. Wine, cheese, and a walk among the large number of Franklinia and other species that Brent and Angela Martin have had success growing in their rich Cowee valley garden.

Presented by Kristin Landfield from Alex Smith Garden Design Ltd

Making a wreath or holiday decoration is a perfect way to showcase the natural resources available to us as well as an opportunity to indulge your creative side.  Kick off the holiday season with Kristin and the Winding Stair team to learn how to make your own fresh holiday wreath. You’ll learn tips and tricks to decorate your own seasonal decorations to take home and hang on your front door or place around your home. Our first workshop (Nov 23rd) will also include Thanksgiving and Fall decoration ideas. The second workshop (Dec 7th) will be tailored to the festive season!
