We start all of our own produce from seed raised in our greenhouse.

The Garden

Our Philosophy:

Our garden draws on the philosophies and practices of traditional European market gardens, modern and soil ecology-centric science, and the rich history of vegetable production in the area. We borrow from organic-certified practices, and never use inorganic treatments, instead creating healthy soil through the use of beneficial bacteria and organic material.

Most of the varieties we grow (close to 300 this year) are historic to this region of the Appalachians, or are Old World varieties with histories longer than European colonists have been farming this continent. Starting all of our own produce from seed ourselves allows us to grow these rare vegetables and share their stories, beauty, and flavor with our customers.

Throughout the year, we have vegetables growing in our green house and in the garden.  We sell our produce at the Franklin NC Farmers Market and have a CSA program.
