Pruning can feel overwhelming or daunting at times. Where do you start? Am I doing this correctly? Is this the right time of year?
This informative class will go over the general elements of pruning, both the how-to’s as well as the thought processes and approach from one species to another. We’ll also look at some of the different tools and which one might be best for the job at hand. Books can be great resources, but nothing beats hands-on practice. Bring something to take notes with and dress for being outdoors in the garden.
Our speaker: Ben Pick grew up in Asheville, NC. Growing up in the mountains of Western North Carolina certainly contributed to his love of the outdoors and the natural world. After getting a horticulture degree from NC State University, he spent 10 years working in public gardens across the US and abroad, learning a wide variety of gardening skills and practices. He now uses this knowledge locally with his garden services company and in classes he teaches on the side.
