When the former owners, Spring Valley Nursery, closed their doors in 2017, we were concerned for the loss of a reputable, independent garden center to serve Franklin and the local community. The next year, Winding Stair Nursery reopened the garden center to provide a high quality and diverse range of plants, including perennials, shrubs, trees, edibles, evergreens, annuals, houseplants and more.
In 2020, we opened our new retail building, which is home to more houseplants, gardening tools, gifts, pottery, and more. In 2021, we vastly expanded our commitment to providing native plants to the community – an important part of our mission to support our local ecosystems. We also present a number of classes throughout the year on the importance of native plants, as well as other interesting and educational workshops.
Our farm team sells their fresh harvested seasonal produce at the nursery, as well as seasonal spring and fall vegetable plants starts. Learn more about the farm team and what they bring to the table.
